PLD 0-6 Years: Navigating the Refresh: ERO’s Updated Judgments and Excelling Indicators Explained

Are you aware that ERO has had a refresh of their judgements when reviewing centres? Are you aware that the effective practice is now reflected and unpacked further in the ECE Improvement Framework at the ‘excelling’ end. If you have answered yes to either of these questions then this is the workshop for you.

Join ERO’s Sandra Collins and Pat Davey as they:

  • introduces the refreshed criteria for the 4 Judgments
  • discusses the rationale behind the changes
  • discusses the implications for centres and their practices
  • explores the 5 Domains
  • looks at the connections between the 5 Domains and the Excelling Indicators

Sandra Collins

Sandra has extensive experience in education and evaluation. She worked for 12 years as a senior education evaluator in the then Evaluation Services team in ERO’s National Office. Prior to this she lead a project in the Ministry of Education to develop Ngā Arohaehae Whai Hua- Self Review Guidelines for Early Childhood Services and prior to that was a Review officer in ERO. Much of her work was focused on system-level evaluations and on methodology and indicator development. At the end of 2018 Sandra was appointed to a new role in ERO as Methodology Manager-now Methodology Lead (as from mid-2024) in the Methodology and Professional Practice team in ERO. In this role Sandra has led the development of Ngā Ara Whai Hua and Te Ara Poutama and associated approaches to review and evaluation in early childhood services

Pat Davey is the Director ECE with ERO’s Review and Improvement Services. Pat oversees the ECE review programme, ensuring a nationally consistent review model across the motu. Pat has worked across most of ERO’s offices  and more recently
as manager for the implementation of ERO’s approach to evaluating governing organisation’s Akatea | Governing Organisation Evaluations.

If your organisation is a member of Montessori Aotearoa one person will receive this member rate. Student members of Montessori Aotearoa can also register for this rate.

Montessori Aotearoa Individual Member Special Rate
If you are an individual member of Montessori Aotearoa you will receive the special individual member rate.

Becoming a Montessori Aotearoa Individual Member
If your service or school is not a school member of Montessori Aotearoa, you have the option to join Montessori Aotearoa as an individual member for $66 pa and then register at the individual member rate. You will also receive two Montessori Aotearoa publications; the hard copy magazine Montessori Voices and the teacher e-zine Informed each term as part of your membership.

Becoming a Montessori Aotearoa Student Member
If you are currently studying you have the option to join Montessori Aotearoa as a student member for $40 pa and then register for at the rate offered to teachers at Montessori Aotearoa member schools. Montessori Aotearoa may ask for proof of current student identification. You will also receive two Montessori Aotearoa publications; the hard copy magazine Montessori Voices and the teacher e-zine Informed each term as part of your membership.
