Wā Ora Montessori School currently has a vacancy for a New Zealand qualified and experienced ECE kaiako with current New Zealand Teacher Registration to work in our Preschool, located in Naenae, Lower Hutt. The position is for a start date of Monday 26th June, 2023. Previous Montessori experience is not essential, however an understanding of Montessori philosophy would be advantageous.
The responsibilities for this position are primarily in our outdoor classroom where you will be working alongside another ECE kaiako providing a programme that follows Montessori principles. We are seeking a person who is a flexible team player and whose personal values and practice promote independence for tamariki. There will also be the opportunity for you to share your skills and knowledge in areas such as gardening, hand crafts and carpentry.
The position is part time (30.5hrs per week) and hours worked are Monday – Thursday 8.30am – 3.30pm and Friday 8.30am – 1.00pm during school term time. This position also includes working one week of each school term holiday break as the Holiday Programme Supervisor. Hours worked will be Monday – Friday 8.30am – 3.00pm. The Preschool follows Primary school terms and there is no requirement to work during the December/January break. A generous hourly rate and benefits are offered dependent on qualifications and experience.
