Permanent New Zealand Qualified ECE Teacher (30hrs per week)

  • Employer: Wā Ora Montessori School
  • Location: Lower Hutt
  • Work type: Permanent

Are you a passionate and dedicated ECE/Primary trained teacher looking for an opportunity to join a nurturing, community-focused Montessori environment? Here’s your chance to join our wonderful team at Wā Ora Montessori School – the only Montessori Area School in New Zealand, catering for learners 6–18 years, alongside a privately run Montessori Preschool for tamariki 3–6 years.  We are a community based school with close connections to our whānau (families), located in Lower Hutt, Wellington, close to bush walks, beaches, a great cultural scene and some of the world’s best restaurants, cafes and coffee.

We are seeking a NZ qualified and experienced ECE kaiako with current NZ Teacher Registration to work in our 3–6yr programme to start Monday 20th April (beginning of Term 2). We need someone who can bring energy, creativity and warmth, ensuring that tamariki thrive in a safe, engaging and respectful environment.  A Montessori (3-6) Qualification would be advantageous, but is not essential.

You will work alongside the Lead ECE kaiako providing a programme following Montessori principles, be a strong communicator, a flexible team player and possess personal values and practice to promote independence for tamariki.

Requirements:

  • Current NZ Teaching Registration (ECE/Primary)
  • Recognised ECE/Primary teaching qualification
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Legal right to work in NZ
  • Experience working with children in an education/care setting

What we Offer:

  • Attractive hourly rate in line with our Collective Agreement, based on qualifications/experience
  • Work Hours: Monday – Friday 8.30am – 3.30pm plus after school meetings as required
  • Generous annual leave and PLD provisions
