Berhampore School is seeking a dedicated 6–12 Montessori teacher to join our vibrant learning community. Our Montessori class, comprising 40 students, is an integral part of Berhampore Primary School, which serves approximately 270 students across the school.
The classroom environment is guided by an experienced AMI 6–12 teacher, supported by another AMI-trained educator and a committed team of support staff. Together, they foster an atmosphere where 6–12-year-olds can thrive and grow. The principal, a strong advocate of Montessori education, works closely with a supportive parent community that values high-quality Montessori practice.
We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher who enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team and who will actively contribute to both our Montessori and wider school community. The available position is for a second AMI 6–12 trained guide. We seek someone who brings genuine passion, a wide range of interests, and meaningful life experience to the role.
While ideal candidates will possess AMI Montessori training and an understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum, we are fundamentally searching for a teacher who is attentive to the needs of children, adaptable, and eager to embrace the challenges and rewards of working with 6–12-year-olds. If AMI Montessori training has not yet been attained, the successful candidate will be expected to pursue this qualification, alongside ongoing professional development through Montessori Aotearoa NZ.
Applicants must hold a teaching qualification recognised by the New Zealand Teachers’ Council, enabling teacher registration in New Zealand, as well as a Montessori elementary qualification. The terms of employment, including salary and responsibilities, will be based on the NZ Primary Teachers’ Collective Agreement.
