About The Children’s Corner
We are a small friendly preschool, licensed for 30 children aged 3-6 years of age. We believe in providing children with a high quality learning environment through recruiting and retaining qualified and experienced teaching professionals. We pride ourselves on excellent teacher: child ratios.
Our centre culture can be described as warm and welcoming with parents, whanau and children feeling a strong sense of belonging. We value involvement and contribution from our parent community and regularly schedule special events where we can all come together to be with the children such as Grandparent's Morning Tea, Culture Day, our Christmas Concert and end of term events.
Parent Evenings are held twice a year providing an opportunity for parents to chat to each other, look at the children’s work, find out more about the Montessori philosophy and spend time with our teachers discussing their child’s progress at preschool.
We believe in the importance of fostering links with our local community and getting involved in Christmas charitable giving, participating in local events and inviting people/groups from the community into our preschool to meet with our children.
With the exception of our mat time and lunch routines, children are able to work uninterrupted for extended periods of time in our child-centred environment. Children are respected as individuals and their particular needs and interests acknowledged and followed.
We provide children with a comprehensive learning environment where there are equitable opportunities to learn in both the indoor and outdoor areas of our preschool. Children are viewed as capable and competent and we offer an environment where they can thrive as socially competent, independent thinkers with a life-long love of learning. We believe in a balanced approach to preschool education with an emphasis on growing happy, stimulated children whose natural curiosity can flourish.
Please contact us by phone in the first instance to receive an information pack or reserve a time to visit our centre. As our waiting list is usually 6-9 months we encourage parents to add their child’s name to our waiting list as soon as practically possible.
Children need to attend a minimum of two days per week, be fully toilet trained and have given up their day sleeps.
When your child has a reserved place at our preschool, a non-refundable deposit of two weeks fees must be paid to confirm their enrolment.
In discussion with a child’s parents, we plan a suitable settling programme to ensure that a child becomes familiar with our centre, routines, teachers and is comfortable spending time away from their parents/caregivers before starting with us.
